This is an
outline of the current Spanish speaking services SOS is able
to offer and to define the purposes and goals of these
services. Through a contract funded through the Oklahoma
Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services,
SOS is now able to offer Spanish speaking counseling
services on a sliding scale plan;depending on
families income.
Goals of Hispanic Services:
Promote
abstinence/healthy limits from alcohol and other drugs
Interface with
Hispanic community support groups
Restore family
functioning
The
following will describe SOS’s range of Spanish speaking
substance abuse services and describes each the type of
client it is meant to serve.
DUI/Substance Abuse Evaluation and Assessment-
This process is a 2 ½ hr. session meant to serve individuals
whose primary language is Spanish. The intent of the
evaluation is to identify any individuals (court and non
court related) who are showing symptoms of a substance abuse
or substance dependence disorder (based on DSM-IV criteria),
identify level of risk of relapse/continued use, and
determine the appropriate level of care/services (based on
ASAM PPC-2R criteria).
DUI School and DUI Treatment Services-
Theseservices focus specifically on theSpanish
Speaking DUI offender. SOS is state certified to offer the
10-hr. and 24 hr. ADSAC and the 12 or 20-week DUI services,
described in the new DUI levels of treatment. In each level
of care each client will focus on assessing his own risk
behaviors and on focus on his/her decision to change.
Treatment Services-
Substance
abuse education, group and individual counseling focusing on
initial recovery and relapse prevention.
Drug Testing Services-This
program is designed to coerce and/or monitor each client in
their attempt to abstain from mind-altering chemicals.
Family
services are offered to each family/significant other on
each of these levels.
